Counseling

All Artvango clinicians have the skills, knowledge, and training to properly address impacts of toxic stress and trauma. Our clinicians teach clients and caregivers about the effects of trauma on the brain and behavior. Therapeutic goals and services are centered around providing the tools necessary to build healthy skills and work through challenging behaviors. Clinicians model and practice techniques involving co-regulation with clients and caregivers. We also strive to create a welcoming environment of felt safety and trust, developing healthy attachment skills along the way.

To get the most out of the therapeutic process, clients and caregivers will be asked to practice skills learned at home.

Licensed professional counselors provide confidential psychotherapy sessions to individuals, families, and in group settings to those who are experiencing behavioral, social, or challenging situations as it relates to being in the foster care system. Counseling session objectives are to strengthen personal awareness, nurture, heal, foster positive social changes, improve family communication, and expand and deepen their personal skills needed to help cope with the challenges that come from being in the foster care system.
